Dharamshala and McLeodganj tour from Kangra
McLeodganj is only 22 km from Kangra — about fifty minutes, most of it climbing — so a two or three-day trip is nearly all sightseeing and very little driving. Tsuglagkhang, Bhagsu, Dharamkot, Naddi and the HPCA stadium all sit within twenty minutes of each other. It runs all year. Send your dates to Kapil on +91 98053 05643 or Sahil on +91 78075 42573.
About the trip
Where the Dhauladhar meets Tibet.
Just above Kangra, McLeodganj is the seat of the Dalai Lama and the heart of Tibetan India — prayer flags, the Tsuglagkhang complex, momos and monastery bells under the snow wall of the Dhauladhar.
The world's highest cricket stadium, Bhagsunag waterfall, St John in the Wilderness church and the easy-going cafés of Dharamkot make a relaxed two or three days — and the Triund trek starts right here.
How it runs from here: this is our own doorstep, so there is no long transfer at either end and the days can start late and finish late. McLeodganj's lanes are narrow and parking is genuinely difficult, which is the part visitors underestimate — we drop you at the square, park elsewhere, and come back for you, so you are never walking uphill with bags. The stadium, Norbulingka and the Kangra fort all slot in on the way down without adding a day.

Good to know
Dharamshala & McLeodganj — questions travellers ask
What is the difference between Dharamshala and McLeodganj?
Dharamshala is the larger town lower down — the bus stand, Kotwali Bazaar, the hospital and the HPCA cricket stadium. McLeodganj is about 9 km and 20 minutes further up, and it is the Tibetan hill town people picture: the Dalai Lama's temple, prayer flags, cafés and the trailheads. Most visitors stay in McLeodganj or Dharamkot and come down for the stadium.
Can we see the Dalai Lama at the Tsuglagkhang complex?
The temple and museum are open to visitors most days and are worth the visit on their own. His Holiness gives public teachings only on announced dates, and those need registration in advance through the Tibetan administration — it is not something we can arrange for you. If your dates fall near a teaching, expect McLeodganj to be very full.
How many days do we need?
Two days covers the temple complex, Bhagsu, Dharamkot and the stadium without rushing. A third day lets you add Naddi for the sunset, the Norbulingka institute, or the Kangra fort and Masroor temples on the way back down.
Is McLeodganj suitable for elders?
The main square, the Tsuglagkhang complex and Naddi are all reachable by car and manageable on foot. Bhagsu falls and the Dharamkot lanes involve rough steps and steady climbing. We park as close as the road allows and plan the day around what the group can comfortably walk.
When is the best time to visit?
March to June for clear snow views and long days, and late September to November for the crispest air and thinner crowds. July and August bring heavy rain — green and quiet, but the views mostly disappear. Winter is cold and beautiful, with occasional snow up in McLeodganj.
Our price promise
The lowest rate you’ll find for this trip — or we beat it.
We don’t publish a rate card, because an honest fare depends on your dates, your group and the road. What we do promise: ask us before you book anywhere, and if you’re already holding a written quote for the same car, the same route and the same all-in inclusions, send us the screenshot. We’ll beat it — and on the rare trip where we honestly can’t, we’ll tell you straight instead of wasting your day.
