Triund trek from Kangra with taxi and drop
We drive you to the Galu Devi trailhead above McLeodganj — about 25 km from Kangra — and collect you back at the same point. The trek itself is yours, three to four hours up to the ridge at roughly 2,850 m. Come back the same evening, or camp overnight and return the next morning. March to June and September to November are best. Ask Kapil on +91 98053 05643 or Sahil on +91 78075 42573.
About the trip
A first taste of the high Dhauladhar.
Triund is the most loved short trek in Kangra — about 9 km up from McLeodganj through oak and rhododendron to a grassy ridge at 2,850 m, the Dhauladhar snow wall close enough to touch.
Most do it as a long day; many camp a night for the sunrise. We drop you at the Galu Devi trailhead, keep your bags safe, and pick you up tired and happy — camping and a guide arranged if you want them.
How it runs from here: the difference a car makes on this trek is the road above McLeodganj — we take you right up to the Galu Devi trailhead, which saves about 3 km of tarmac walking at the start and, more usefully, at the end when your legs have gone. Heavy bags stay in the car. For a day trek we agree a pickup time and wait; for an overnight camp we drop you and come back the next morning, so you carry nothing you do not need on the ridge.

Good to know
Triund — questions travellers ask
How hard is the Triund trek?
It is about 9 km each way from the Galu Devi trailhead, climbing roughly 900 m to the ridge at 2,850 m. Reasonably fit walkers take three to four hours up and two to three down. There is no technical difficulty and the path is clear, but it is a steady uphill grind — particularly the last stretch, the '22 curves'.
Where exactly do you drop us, and where do you wait?
We drive you up past McLeodganj and Dharamkot to the Galu Devi temple, which is as far as a car can go and saves you about 3 km of road walking. You can leave heavy bags in the car. For a day trek we come back for you at an agreed time; for an overnight we drop you and return the next day.
Can we camp overnight at the top?
Yes, and the sunrise is the reason most people do. Camping is run by licensed operators on the ridge — we can put you in touch with one and time your drop accordingly. Do check the current rules before you fix it: overnight camping at Triund has been restricted at times, and we would rather tell you in advance than have you turned back.
What is the best season for Triund?
March to June and September to November. Avoid the monsoon — the path is slick and leeches are a genuine nuisance. From late December the upper section often holds snow, which is spectacular but needs proper shoes and a guide.
Is there food and water on the way up?
There are small tea shops along the route, including the Magic View café about two-thirds up, and a couple at the top. They are seasonal and can be shut in bad weather, so carry at least two litres of water per person and something to eat rather than relying on them.
What is the best time for the Triund trek?
March to June and September to November. Monsoon makes the path slippery and the ridge view disappears into cloud; deep winter puts snow on the top section. The ridge sits around 2,850 m and the walk up takes three to four hours, so it is a real trek rather than a stroll.
Our price promise
The lowest rate you’ll find for this trip — or we beat it.
We don’t publish a rate card, because an honest fare depends on your dates, your group and the road. What we do promise: ask us before you book anywhere, and if you’re already holding a written quote for the same car, the same route and the same all-in inclusions, send us the screenshot. We’ll beat it — and on the rare trip where we honestly can’t, we’ll tell you straight instead of wasting your day.
