Bir Billing tour package from Kangra
Bir Billing is about 65 km from Kangra, roughly two hours by road, and works as a one or two-day trip. The tandem flights run from Billing above Bir, with the Tibetan monasteries, the tea gardens and the Baijnath Shiv temple filling the rest of the plan — autumn is the most reliable flying window. About the trip
Run off the hill, fly over the valley.
Bir Billing is paragliding's home in India — you launch from Billing at 2,400 m and land at Bir, the Dhauladhar laid out beneath you. It is astonishingly close to Kangra, so a flight can be a half-day outing.
On the ground, Bir is a gentle place of Tibetan monasteries, a stupa, cafés and tea gardens. The flying season runs spring and autumn; we time your visit and arrange the tandem flight.
How it runs from here: Bir is close enough that we leave Kangra after a normal breakfast and still reach Billing while the morning air is at its best. The climb from Bir to the take-off is fourteen steep kilometres, so we drive you up and meet you at the landing field rather than leaving you to find a shared jeep. If the pilots ground the day for wind, we swing the plan to the monasteries and the tea gardens instead of writing the trip off.

The plan we run
Day by day.
Day 1 — Day 2
Billing flies on the weather, not the calendar — if the wind is wrong on your morning we run the monasteries and tea gardens first and try the flight after lunch. Autumn (Oct–Nov) is the most reliable window.

Good to know
Bir Billing — questions travellers ask
How far is Bir Billing from Kangra, and how long does the drive take?
Bir is about 65 km from Kangra — roughly two hours by road via Palampur and Baijnath. Billing, the take-off point, is another 14 km and about 45 minutes of steep hairpins above Bir. Because it is so close, a flight can be a half-day outing; most people still take a full day so they are not watching the clock.
When is the paragliding season at Billing?
Broadly March to June and September to November. October and early November are the most reliable — stable air, clear Dhauladhar views. Flying is usually suspended through the monsoon (July–August) and in deep winter. Even in season, pilots ground themselves if the wind is wrong, so we keep the day flexible rather than promise you a flight at a fixed hour.
Do you arrange the tandem flight itself?
We put you in touch with the licensed tandem operators at the take-off and drive you up to Billing and back down to the landing field at Bir. The flight is paid directly to the pilot, so you see exactly what it costs and we take nothing on top. Weight and age limits are the operator's, and we will tell you honestly if your group is likely to be turned away.
Is there anything to do in Bir if we do not fly?
Plenty, and many people come only for it. The Chokling and Sherabling monasteries, the Deer Park Institute, the tea gardens, and a row of good cafés around the landing field make an easy, slow day. The Baijnath Shiv temple is on the way home.
Can we do Bir Billing as a day trip and sleep at home in Kangra?
Yes — that is the most common way we run it. Leave early, fly mid-morning when the air is best, eat in Bir, stop at Baijnath and be back by evening. An overnight only makes sense if you want a second chance at the weather or a slower look at the monasteries.
What is the best time to visit Bir Billing?
For flying, autumn — roughly October and November — is the most reliable window, with March to June the next best. Billing flies on the weather rather than the calendar, so a booked slot in July may simply not happen; no operator can promise otherwise. The monasteries, the tea gardens and Baijnath are worth the trip whatever the wind does.
Our price promise
The lowest rate you’ll find for this trip — or we beat it.
We don’t publish a rate card, because an honest fare depends on your dates, your group and the road. What we do promise: ask us before you book anywhere, and if you’re already holding a written quote for the same car, the same route and the same all-in inclusions, send us the screenshot. We’ll beat it — and on the rare trip where we honestly can’t, we’ll tell you straight instead of wasting your day.
