Pathankot is the nearest broad-gauge railhead and airport to the Kangra valley, so for pilgrims from Punjab, Jammu and beyond it is the usual point to pick up a car. We track your train or flight and the driver is waiting when you arrive, even at an odd hour, with help for your luggage and a name board on request.

From Pathankot the road climbs straight into the valley. Many guests do the Kangra-side temples first (Brajeshwari, Chamunda, Baglamukhi and Jwala Ji), then add Chintpurni and Naina Devi, or carry on to Dharamshala and McLeodganj. Day 1 — Day 2

Pathankot comes at the valley from the western end, so the order runs backwards compared with the Punjab and plains routes — Kangra first, Naina Devi last.

The flames first thing, Chintpurni by late morning, then the long run down to Naina Devi above Govind Sagar. From there it is either back to Pathankot or on toward Chandigarh.

Worth knowing

One day is possible

The five Kangra-valley temples fit one long day from Pathankot if you skip Naina Devi. Adding Naina Devi is what makes it two, because it is a hundred and fifty kilometres the other way.

Which station

Pathankot Junction and Pathankot Cantt are different stations several kilometres apart. Tell us which your ticket names.

Ending elsewhere

Day two finishes near the plains, so plenty of pilgrims end at Chandigarh or Anandpur Sahib rather than doubling back. Say so at booking and we plan it that way.
