McLeodganj is our most-asked-for drop and our most awkward one. The square is narrow, the parking is a running battle, and half the guesthouses sit up lanes no car has ever entered. We would rather say that plainly than promise a door drop we cannot make — so when you send us the address, we will tell you exactly where the car will stop and how far the walk is.
Most of the work here is people leaving: a 4 a.m. run to Gaggal for the morning Delhi flight, a drop at Amb Andaura for the Vande Bharat, or the long drive down to Chandigarh or Delhi. We do a lot of these, and starting from Kangra means we can be outside your guesthouse before dawn without you paying for a car to come up from the plains.
For the day trips — Bhagsu waterfall, Dharamkot, Naddi viewpoint, the Triund trailhead at Galu — we can wait for you and bring you back, so you are not gambling on finding a taxi at the top in the evening.

A day on foot, with the car for the ends
McLeodganj itself is small and best walked. What the car is for is the things around it — Naddi, Galu Devi, Norbulingka — and the luggage.

Tsuglagkhang
The Dalai Lama’s temple complex and the Tibet Museum, five minutes on foot from the square. First thing is the only quiet time.
- Morning
Up to Galu Devi
We drive you above Dharamkot to the trailhead. From here Triund is 3–4 hours up; if that is not the plan, the short walk to the temple still earns the view.
- Midday
Bhagsu
Bhagsunag temple, the pool and the falls above it. The walk up to the waterfall takes about twenty minutes and is busy in season.
- Afternoon
Naddi viewpoint
Fifteen minutes by car — the clearest head-on view of the Dhauladhar there is, and best in the late afternoon light.
- Evening
St. John in the Wilderness
The stone church in the deodars on the way down, with Lord Elgin’s grave. Five minutes off the road and almost always empty.

Where the car can go
Dharamkot and upper Bhagsu are reachable but the last stretch to many guesthouses is a footpath. Tell us the name and we get as close as the road allows — and help with bags from there.
Coming down is worse than going up
The descent through Dharamshala at checkout time is the slowest hour of the day. For a flight or train, we leave with a real margin.
Altitude
McLeodganj is around 2,000 m and Triund 2,850 m. The town is fine for everyone; the trek is not, and we would rather say so.

Can you do an early-morning McLeodganj to Gaggal airport drop?
Yes, and we do it constantly. For the first Delhi flight we usually leave McLeodganj well before dawn. Book the night before and the car will be waiting outside.
Will you wait while we walk to Bhagsu or Triund?
Yes. On a half or full-day booking the driver stays with you, so you are not looking for a taxi in the dark after coming down from Galu or Triund.
