Amb Andaura station is about 3 hours from Palampur and the Vande Bharat covers the rest to Delhi. Unless you have a lot of luggage or a big group, that is the better trip and we would rather tell you than sell you eleven hours.

When the car does win

Groups of five or more, odd hours, lots of bags, or a route with stops in it. Then the door-to-door car is genuinely simpler.

Splitting it

Chandigarh at ~5.5 hrs makes a comfortable overnight halfway.
