How we drive it.

Most people booking this run are coming up from Delhi on the morning Vande Bharat and want to be in McLeodganj by afternoon. Three hours is the honest figure — two and a half to Dharamshala, then a slow half hour up the hill, longer in season when the upper road is choked.

The part worth sorting out before you travel is the drop. McLeodganj lanes are narrow and much of Dharamkot and upper Bhagsu is beyond any car. Send us the guesthouse name when you book and we will tell you exactly where the car stops and how far you will be walking, rather than discovering it with your bags at the end of a long day.

For the return, the last stretch down is easier and we can leave McLeodganj early enough for the afternoon train without rushing the hill road.
