Going from one hill station to the other means dropping all the way down before climbing back up, and that is the shape of this day: off the ridge at Dharamshala, south through temple country at Jwala Ji, the market town of Hamirpur at the halfway mark, then the long stretch beside the Govind Sagar reservoir at Bilaspur before the last winding hour up to Shimla.

We drop at the lift or Cart Road, so if anyone in your group will struggle with the last stretch on foot, tell us and we choose the drop around your hotel.
