Katra is the base town for the Mata Vaishno Devi yatra, and many of our guests pair the Himachal Devi Darshan with Vaishno Devi in one journey. From Kangra the road drops to Pathankot in about two and a half hours, then runs north through Jammu to Katra — a full but comfortable day in a car built for the long haul.

Rest before you climb

The darshan is a 13 km climb from Katra and it is not something to start after eight hours in a car. Arrive, sleep, climb the next morning.
