The Kangra–Palampur road is one of the valley’s prettiest drives: tea gardens on both sides, the Dhauladhar standing close enough to touch, and paddy terraces in between. Palampur makes an easy half-day from Kangra, and the same road carries on to Baijnath’s ancient Shiva temple and the Bir Billing paragliding meadow.

Baijnath’s Shiv temple is 15 minutes on, and Bir Billing another 30. Palampur works well as the base for both.
