Kashmir tour by car from Himachal

A five to seven-day Kashmir trip covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the same car and driver throughout. Most travellers fly into Srinagar and we meet them there; if you would rather drive the whole way from Kangra we add the Katra and Jammu legs, which makes it eight days. March to October is the window. Ask Kapil on +91 98053 05643 or Sahil on +91 78075 42573.

About the trip

Paradise on earth.

Kashmir needs little introduction — the houseboats and shikaras of Dal Lake, the Mughal gardens, and a ring of valleys each more beautiful than the last. We can drive you the whole way from Kangra, or meet you at Srinagar.

Gulmarg's gondola climbs toward Apharwat's snow; Pahalgam follows the Lidder through pine and meadow; Sonmarg opens the glacier road toward Ladakh. Tulip season in April is something else.

How it runs from here: whether we drive you the full 600 km from Kangra or meet your flight at Srinagar, the same car and driver stay for the whole valley — Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg and the city. That matters more here than most places, because the usual practice is to hand you to a local operator on arrival and a different driver each day. Distances inside the valley are short but the roads are busy, so we start early and keep one big sight per day.

What you’ll see

  • Dal Lake houseboat & shikara ride
  • Mughal gardens — Nishat & Shalimar
  • Gulmarg gondola (Asia's highest)
  • Pahalgam & the Lidder valley
  • Sonmarg & Thajiwas glacier
  • Tulip garden (April) & old-city Srinagar

Good to know

Kashmir — questions travellers ask

Can you drive us all the way from Kangra, or do we fly?

Both work. Driving is roughly 600 km via Pathankot, Jammu and the Jawahar tunnel, and takes two days each way with a night at Katra or Patnitop — good if you want the road and a Vaishno Devi halt. Many people prefer to fly into Srinagar and have us meet them there; the valley itinerary is identical either way.

Is it safe to travel in Kashmir?

The tourist circuit — Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg — has been running normally for years and is well policed. Conditions can change, and occasionally a road or a day is closed at short notice. We follow the local advisories rather than a schedule, and if we think your dates look wrong we will say so plainly instead of taking the booking.

When is tulip season, and when is the snow?

The Indira Gandhi tulip garden in Srinagar opens for roughly three weeks from late March into mid-April, and the exact dates shift with the season. Gulmarg holds snow from December through March, when the gondola is the main draw. May to October is the green, gentle valley — meadows, gardens and shikaras.

Do we have to stay on a houseboat?

Not at all, though a night on one is worth having. Many people split it — a night on the Dal and the rest in a hotel in Srinagar, which is easier for luggage and early starts. We can suggest houseboats we have actually dropped guests at rather than whatever pays a commission.

How does the Gulmarg gondola work?

It runs in two phases — the first to Kongdoori, the second up toward Apharwat at about 3,980 m. Tickets are bought on the day and the second phase closes in bad weather or high wind, often at short notice. Go early: queues build through the morning and the upper stage is the first thing to shut.

Does one car and driver stay with us the whole time?

Yes. Whether we drive you in from Kangra or meet you at Srinagar airport, the same car and driver stay for Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg and the city. No handovers, no local operator taking over halfway through.

What is the best time to visit Kashmir?

March to October covers it — tulips and blossom in April, cool green through summer, and clear crisp air into October. December to February is snow season, beautiful but with the Jammu–Srinagar highway liable to close for weather. We plan a buffer either way rather than pretend it does not happen.

Our price promise

The lowest rate you’ll find for this trip — or we beat it.

We don’t publish a rate card, because an honest fare depends on your dates, your group and the road. What we do promise: ask us before you book anywhere, and if you’re already holding a written quote for the same car, the same route and the same all-in inclusions, send us the screenshot. We’ll beat it — and on the rare trip where we honestly can’t, we’ll tell you straight instead of wasting your day.

  1. 01

    Tell us the plan

WhatsApp your dates, your group and where you want to go. You get one all-in fare — car, driver, fuel, tolls, parking and permits — usually within the hour.

  2. 02

    Compare it openly

Check it against any operator or app you like. Compare like for like: the same car, the same days, everything included — not a headline figure with extras added on later.

  3. 03

    We beat it

Send us the lower written quote and we’ll beat it. You book the owner-drivers direct, so there is no agent commission sitting inside our number to begin with.
