About the trip

The desert kingdoms, at your own pace.

Rajasthan is a country of its own — walled cities the colour of rose and gold, palaces afloat on lakes, and a desert that turns amber at dusk. Rather than rush it by train, we drive you the whole way from Kangra in one private car, so the same boot carries your bags from the first fort to the last dune.

The classic loop runs Jaipur, Ajmer and Pushkar, Udaipur, Ranakpur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, unwinding home through the painted Shekhawati towns. We shape the days around your interest — forts and havelis, temples, textiles or the Thar's stillness — and keep the halts comfortable for elders.

What you’ll see

  • Amber Fort & the pink old city of Jaipur
  • Brahma temple & the ghats of Pushkar
  • Lake Pichola & the City Palace, Udaipur
  • Mehrangarh Fort above blue Jodhpur
  • Jaisalmer's golden fort & Sam sand dunes
  • Ranakpur & Dilwara marble Jain temples

Good to know

Himachal to Rajasthan — questions travellers ask

How many days does the Himachal to Rajasthan tour take?

The full circuit — Jaipur, Pushkar, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer — is comfortable in 11 to 13 days by private car from Kangra, including the travel days on the road. With less time we can trim it to a Jaipur–Pushkar–Udaipur loop of about 8 days, or extend it with Bikaner, Ranthambore or Mount Abu. We build the length around your dates.

Is it better to fly or drive from Himachal to Rajasthan?

Driving keeps one car and one driver with you from your doorstep in Kangra to the last dune and back, so your luggage never changes hands and you stop where you like. There is no direct train from Kangra, and flights mean a change at Delhi plus hired cars at the other end. For a family or group the private car is usually simpler and more flexible.

What is the best time for a Rajasthan trip?

October to March is the season — clear, cool days and cold desert nights, ideal for the forts and the Sam dunes. April and May get very hot in the desert, and the monsoon (July–September) greens Udaipur but stays humid. We plan the halts and sightseeing timings to suit whichever month you travel.

Which places does the tour cover?

The classic route is Jaipur (Amber Fort, City Palace), Ajmer and Pushkar (Brahma temple), Udaipur (Lake Pichola), Ranakpur, Jodhpur (Mehrangarh) and Jaisalmer (golden fort and Sam dunes), with the Shekhawati havelis on the way home. Tell us which appeal most and we shape the days around them.
