High Himalaya · Lahaul–Spiti, H.P.
Spiti Valley
The cold desert of monasteries and moonland villages — Kaza, Key, Chandratal and some of the highest hamlets on earth.
About the trip
A journey to the middle land.
Spiti — the 'middle land' between India and Tibet — is a high cold desert of ochre cliffs, whitewashed gompas and impossibly blue skies. It is a serious mountain journey, and one of the most rewarding drives in the Himalaya.
We run it carefully, with proper acclimatisation: Key monastery clinging to its hill, Kibber and Komic among the highest villages on earth, the fossil village of Langza, the Pin valley, and the unreal turquoise of Chandratal lake.
What you’ll see
- Key Monastery & Kibber village
