Dehra Gopipur sits where the Kangra valley drops to the Beas, and it is a genuine crossroads — the road south to Hoshiarpur and the plains, the road east to Hamirpur, and the road north back up to Kangra all meet here.

Jwala Ji is about twenty minutes away, so a steady part of the work is darshan runs, particularly early ones to be there before the queues build. The Pong Dam reservoir is on the doorstep too, and in winter the migratory birds bring people out to Nagrota Surian and the wetland edge.

The rest is straightforward transport for people who live here: cars to Amb Andaura and Una for the trains, to Gaggal for flights, and the long drives to Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab that are awkward and slow by bus from this side of the valley.
