Shahpur sits on the road between Dharamshala and Nurpur with the Dhauladhar directly overhead, about forty-five minutes from us.
Being close to Dharamshala without being in it, most of the work here is the daily kind — people going up for work, hospital appointments at the Zonal Hospital or Tanda, students, and families who want a car for the market run rather than the bus.
The other half is departures. Gaggal airport is close, Pathankot is under two hours, and the road west out of the valley starts here — so airport drops, station transfers and one-way runs to Amritsar, Jammu and Punjab are steady bookings.

Shahpur sits at the bottom of the climb, which makes it a short hop to McLeodganj and a long way from everything else.
