Nurpur sits at the western gate of the district, an hour and a half from us on the Pathankot road, with its old fort and the Brij Raj Swami temple in the middle of the town.
What makes Nurpur busy for taxi work is Pathankot — the nearest broad-gauge railhead and airport, and only about forty minutes away. Anyone here travelling to Delhi, Jammu or the plains goes through it, and the trains and flights run at hours when buses do not. Those transfers, in both directions, are most of what we do from Nurpur.
It is also the turning for Chamba. Dalhousie and Khajjiar are a comfortable half-day from here, and the road on to Chamba town and Bharmour starts at the same junction, so weekend and pilgrimage runs up that side are a regular booking.

Toward Chamba
If the day is going that way, the Chowari climb starts here and Dalhousie is three hours on. It is the natural long trip from Nurpur.

Good to know locally
Nurpur Road station
It is not in Nurpur. The station of that name is several kilometres out, and Pathankot is the one most long-distance trains actually use.
The Chowari climb
The road to Dalhousie starts winding immediately after Nurpur and stays that way for an hour. Worth knowing before you set off with anyone who travels badly.
Crossing into Punjab
Amritsar is about three hours and Katra six. State permits sit inside the quoted fare rather than being added at the border.

Is Dalhousie a day trip from Nurpur?
